Lesson

The future joy of musical appreciation, knowledge, skill, focus and social understanding of the arts

The lessons are structured to help our students to successfully achieve their musical goals of their choices. Getting the greatest possible enjoyment and fulfillment out of playing the piano, while creating an atmosphere where learning and development will thrive, will improve the student’s piano playing quickly. The goal of enjoyment of each lesson that we are standing for does not imply an easy lesson for the student.

It refers to the future joy of musical appreciation, knowledge, skill, focus and social understanding of the arts throughout the student's entire life and the ongoing fulfillment of constant improvement on the instrument itself. Music theory, reading music notation, technique, and analysis are all useful, but they are a means to an end if not taught individually based on each student’s goals and level. Mastering those skills and implementing them on a concert stage setting will bring the true joy of playing the piano.

Exam Preparation

Prepare and qualify for ABRSM and NYSSMA.

There are two major exams in New York City. Our piano studio will prepare and qualify our students for both. The ABRSM and The NYSSMA. Yuko leads her students to both of these exams and strongly supports The ABRSM exam. All candidates need achieve a minimum amount of points within different categories, such as live performance of practiced pieces, playing a variety of requested scales and music notational sight reading and Aural skills in order to pass the exam. Additionally, Theory exams need to be passed at certain level.

Yuko successfully led her students through all available grades 1-8, as well as the additional Performance Diploma. Most of her students passed with outstanding high scores, distinctions and merits.

Theory Exam Preparation

Students who are used to take exams, gradually start taking competitions. It goes very naturally and smooth. Competitions lead the student to perform in major venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and many others.
